Do college students know basic facts about the U.S. Constitution?

The U.S. Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787 and was commemorated by Congress through the celebration of Constitution Day, held each year on September 17. In 2004, Public Law 108-447, Section 111 was passed requiring the following:
“Each educational institution that receives Federal funds for a fiscal year shall hold an educational program on the United States Constitution on September 17 of such year for the students served by the educational institution.
“…each Federal agency or department shall provide educational and training materials concerning the United States Constitution to each employee…on September 17 of each year.”
In celebration of Constitution Day, The Kansas Constitutional went to Washburn University in Topeka to ask students basic questions regarding the Constitution. Students had to answer three out of five questions correctly to win $20. All students walked away with a booklet of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence as a thank you for participating. All students admitted to never having read the Constitution in full, but all have read parts of it in school. The students questioned included Freshman Destiny, Senior Jason Guerre, and Freshman Orrin Busenitz. These are their answers:
