Osage County Republican Chair Dana Webber spoke about Kansas Representative for District 54 Ken Corbet. Webber spoke on how she ran against Corbet who would ultimately go on to win and how he asked her if she would support him to which she replied she would as he is a republican. She also mentioned that so long as she would support him, she would also hold him accountable. She also pointed out that he is on the tax committee and has done all that he can to lower taxes in Kansas.
“As you well know, the Republicans are responsible for the food tax cut,” Webber said. “Not this Governor. She vetoed that bill twice. If they hadn’t overridden that bill it would have become law without her signature. So, get the story correct when people tell you she did that. She did not do that. We did that. We the People.”
Webber also mentioned that we need Corbet to stay in office and how the Democrats try to find recognizable names to run against Republicans to throw voters off. She concluded talking about green energy, focusing primarily on wind turbines.
“There are many companies that come in here,” Webber said. “They go to the farmers in the country, they talk to them if they have a lot of land, they get them to sign a contract, and then, much later, people start to hear about it, but not from the farmers because the farmers have a gag order on them. They can’t tell anybody that they’re doing this. They have to keep their mouths shut. We found out about it from people who said no to the contracts.”
Webber said she is working with a grassroots group to keep the wind turbines from ruining the beauty of her county and that wind turbines are not quiet, there is no way to dispose of them once they break down, they take up a lot of space, they tear up property and roads, farmers get no say in where they go, they cause vibrations, interrupting sleep and causing health issues, and you never get a tax dollar back for the wind turbines.
“There is not one wind turbine company in the state of Kansas that’s in existence today that has ever paid a dime of tax, but they will tell you they are bringing tax dollars to your county,” Webber said. “We’ve researched it. No, they do not.”
Webber also talked on the problems of solar energy as well.
Speaking on issues regarding medical marijuana and support for a Convention of States was Kansas Representative for House District 76 Eric Smith. Informing the crowd that there have been “problems” when it comes to the legalization of marijuana, pointing to Oklahoma and Denver, Smith said he believes the legalization of marijuana will happen in Kansas next year and he will do everything in his power to regulate it as best he can.
Smith also said that the news is meant to entertain, not to inform. He related a story of him watching a news program that spent 15 minutes observing what was really a 9-hour day of the Kansas House.
He moved on to talk about an Article V Convention to bring power back to the states.
“I’m not fighting against the federal government, I’m fighting to be with,” Smith said. “We are supposed to be on equal grounds here. We’re supposed to be able to say no. But you know what happens is there is so much federal money flowing down. You say no and they got leverage on you. We can’t pass anything without someone saying, ‘Well, you know what that will do to our blank funding.’”
Smith then gave an American History lesson about the Federalists and Anti-Federalists.
With clear emotion in his voice, State School Board of Education District 1 Candidate Danny Zeck began speaking about books in the school system including The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, a book that mentions male masturbation 27 times.
“We need honesty, and we’re not getting that,” Zeck said. “And we need academics as the focus, not everything else. And why do we need academic focus? Just for your knowledge, 60 percent of our kids in the whole state of Kansas are not even up to grade level.”
He also said that only 38 percent of students that want to go to college and are not ready and must take remedial college classes and of that 38 percent, only 1 percent actually graduate from college.
Zeck further mentioned student data collecting and giving parents the option to opt in to reading certain books rather than opting out.
The final speaker at the event was Secretary for Shawnee County GOP Lanelle Griffith who briefly spoke about getting informed about candidates and how to support them via a newsletter that can be found here.
Another rally will occur at the Kansas State Capitol on Saturday, October 22. This event will be hosted by Kansas Patriots.
Barb Altman and JuLee Adams finished the rally with a few words before people began packing while Kayla Atkins played a few more worship songs.
I like what Dana Webber had to say...it was NOT the governor that did the tax cut - that she veto the bill twice - that is VERY important to know!!!! Also, about the wind turbines...very, very interesting!!!! Love it!!
