Inflation rates have come out for December, and the national inflation rate has risen 6.5 percent. However, The Kansas Constitutional focuses on issues regarding Kansas specifically, so we are looking at how high inflation has risen in our region, specifically. The Midwest Region is made up of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Together, these states are experiencing a lower inflation than the country as a whole, and has the lowest inflation rate of all U.S. regions for December 2022. We are experiencing an inflation rate of 6.0 percent from December 2021 compared to the Northeast Region at 6.1 percent, the West Region at 6.2 percent, and the South Region at 7.0 percent. Going back a month to look at November 2022 to December 2022, we are seeing a deflation of 0.5 percent for the Midwest.
