I believe America is worth preserving. I also believe that America truly is the last best hope for all the world.
The United States Constitution was written in such a way, that if followed, the citizens should be able to continue this great experiment. The founders placed many tools within the Constitution, including Article V. I believe the time has come for America to utilize this important tool.
In 1787, America’s founders hammered out a document so unique that it has stood strong for 244 years. The founding fathers included Article V, in the Constitution, in order to give the American people the power to protect their freedoms. They anticipated that the federal government may someday grow tyrannical and out of control.
America now finds itself in the very situation the founders feared. Article V is the mechanism that citizens can use to petition their state legislatures to call a Convention of States. This action would ultimately enable the people to restore control over their elected representatives by proposing amendments to the Constitution. Ultimately, we will help to preserve our most precious rights put forth in the Declaration of Independence; those of “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
For years, I’ve watched the “leaders”, and the unelected bureaucrats, disappoint Americans while chipping away at their rights. I’ve grown weary of the continuous cycle of electing politicians who promise to go to Washington and work to make America better, only to see most of them become part of the culture of corruption once they arrive. It appears once they’re elected, they forget about those who sent them there. Very few of those we elect understand the importance of keeping promises.
I believe Washington is utterly broken and it will continue to get worse if “We the People” do nothing to change the trajectory. Everything from the astronomical debt that our children and grandchildren are now saddled with, to the attacks on our religion and second amendment rights, to the increasing unfairness we are seeing in our justice system, will only continue to metastasize.
After attending a Convention of States hearing at the Topeka State House, in 2022, I decided to get involved. I became more familiar with Article V and Convention of States over the next few weeks. I concluded that it was a practicable answer to the question of “how can I help save America”. I firmly believe that Convention of States truly is a solution as big as the problem.
I’m currently representing Convention of States as a Douglas County, KS District Captain. My hope is to grow our local group by holding meetings, sharing information, and educating members about how they can also help. I hope to see our grassroots group grow over the coming months and years. My goal is to see Kansas join the other 19 states that have passed their applications for a Convention of States.
My love for America, and for my family and friends, inspires me to give of my time, talent, and treasure. I pray to God for his divine intervention, direction, and blessings upon America.
For the Republic!
